Life Off, Game On!

Most Jazz fans have heard the “Life off, game on!” theme. You can see it all around the EnergySolutions Arena and throughout Jazz advertisements. But what does it exactly mean and what is the purpose of it?  I think the theme is not just for the fans, it is for the players as well.  When you first hear it you think of just tuning out your life and focusing on playing the game of basketball… but I think that the players take it to heart. Not only does a “team theme” help show what you stand for, but also unites you as one.

One year my team had a theme of “SAO” – Stand As One.   Another theme I have had for basketball was “Upset.” This quote shows that we are ready to go out and fight-upset some teams–and show em’ what were made of.   I believe that  “Life off, game on,” means to focus and play hard in the game.  I also think it shows that our Utah Jazz are ready to come out, play hard and play as one-whatever the score ends up to be (although we all want the Jazz to win!). The Jazz are hardworking and talented players. They know how to get out there and play hard… no matter what they have been through… with all the injuries that Williams, Boozer, Korver, Harpring, Collins, and other players have experienced, they still go out when healed and play their best!   Even when they aren’t able to play, when it’s game time they are there supporting their team.   They turn “life off,” and get their “game on!” GO JAZZ!

Good blog and I agree. For any of those who think we arenot doing very well they should look at the NBA Today. I just finished reading it and they feel like the Jazz is very much in the race with 2 other teams for the Western divisioin win. I think it is good for all of us to shut out the problems we have and those of the world to focus on a game for a few hours. Live off Game on!!
