Hey Jazz – Ostertag Thinks You Are Soft
Posted by Johnathan Kendrick on April 19, 2009

I thought losing 7 out of 9 was bad. I cringed when I heard rumors of players not getting along. Failure to acknowledge the 3 point shot on offense or defense was enough to make me change the channel on many, many occasions. Yes, I admit I had doomsday thoughts. I thought I was watching the New York Mets. I thought it was rock bottom. Then I heard former Jazz center Greg Ostertag make an impromptu phone call to DJ and PK on 1320 KFAN and I realized just how bad the situation really was.
Listen up Jazz players this is for you – Greg Ostertag thinks you are soft. That’s right, the 7’2” center who usually waited until tip off to decide whether or not he had shown up to work that day thinks you have motivational problems. The guy who once spent 33 minutes as the tallest guy on the court and didn’t grab a single rebound or block a shot (even 5’10” Brevin Knight thinks that’s pathetic) said you guys are weak defensively. A guy who despite being bigger than any of you, was once pushed to the ground by Shaq in a pregame scuffle and arguably to this day has still never gotten up, thinks you guys have no fight in you. A guy who frequently fractured the locker room said you guys have no chemistry. The guy who the west wing of the Jerry Sloan dog house is named after (the east wing is named after both Carlos Arroyo and Gordon Giricek, the garden after Chris Morris) thinks you guys as a team are un-coachable.
I can’t tell you how much that phone call bothered me. It sparked a fight in me. I wanted to argue with him. I wanted to defend, I wanted to take it at him, and punch him in the nose. But in the end I guess I owe Greg Ostertag a thank you. His assessment of the Jazz brought me fully back to the Jazz support side and made me eager to see if all the criticism from the endless line of critics makes the Jazz react in a similar fashion. Thanks Greg (you big pansy), let’s go Jazz.

Well, great post Jonathan! I was laughing out loud. As I listened to that phone call I composed my “Hey Jazz-even Greg Ostertag thinks you’re soft” Jazzbots post. To the swift goes the whatever…Anyway your post was funnier than mine. Thanks for making me laugh today.

I am a Greg Ostertag fan so shoot me! He did the right thing for not fighting with Shaq, the easy thing would have been to smack him back, he showed more courage and strength in letting Shaq look the fool. Mark my words its harder to hold back then to take the jerk down. I was happy to hear that the New Yorker Club refused to give Shaq a table for a long time after that:)
I am one of those Jazz fans come rain or come shine. The post is funny, kinda. I do hope our team going into the playoffs will take note, they should take all the notes they can while there is still time.
