Blogger Selection Moves Forward
Posted by Daye Derrick on July 31, 2009
The selection process for the 2009 – 2010 Jazzbots blogger team is entering its next stage. This year hundreds of prospective bloggers showed the greatest range of creativity, Jazz knowledge and character we’ve ever seen. With much internal debate we narrowed the field of highly competitive submissions to 35.
On Monday we’re asking for your help judging 10 of the remaining 35. Ten exceptional entries (two per day) will be featured and judged by the Jazzbots community. Your feedback will decide if they advance. At the same time the remaining 25 will move forward through our internal ranking process.
A week from Monday we will announce the the finalists that will participate in the interview stage at Energy Solutions Arena. I wish our advancing fans/prospective bloggers the best of luck.
A message for those fans who did not advance. I don’t want to write some cliche`thank you line and that’s it. We really appreciate your participation and hope you will send a submission during our next search. Our decisions are especially hard knowing how important this is to you. We can empathize as each of us also wanted very much to be a part of the Jazz. We have a few stories where persistence paid off. Persistence can pay off for you too.
The 2008 – 2009 search produced some great additions (team picture above) – Mallory Meyer and Andy Larsen just to name two. We also recruited bloggers from the boards like Chris Estey and found James Seaman on Bourbon Street. My point being, ‘walking-on’ is not out of the question.
One suggestion for your submission: please share it in the forum for everyone to see.
Thanks again and Go Jazz!
Derrick

Congratulations to those who have made it thus far. I, for one, will be anxious to see your blogs that will be coming.

I gotta say there were so many good blog submissions this year; it seems like every year the competition gets bigger and better and thusly harder to judge.
Congrats to all that sent in a submission! It was really fun to read all of the different angles on Jazz fan related “issues” and “life”.
