Jazz Scrimmage Analysis
Posted by Annie Whittaker on October 15, 2009

I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Jazz team scrimmage the other night. Here are some of my thoughts after being there…Letterman style.
The Top Ten Best Things About Being at the Jazz Team Scrimmage
10. Kosta and Fes-Improved since last year at this time, still buttery-fingered. This is endearing to me because I’m one of their kind. We’re just trying too hard. If we weren’t trying so hard, we wouldn’t bobble so much, but then we wouldn’t do the other things as well either.
9.Getting to see Jared, Eric, Hannah et.al. in the rock star seats.
8.The rookies looked good. Nothing like fighting for a spot to get the best effort out of players.
7.Carlos Boozer wasn’t the main event.
6. Sitting next to the weird yet lovable brother of the bride from the movie “The Hangover.” The smell of fame is real my friends, and it is pungent. Dude, seriously take a shower.
5.Kyle looked good, not to mention his outside shots (once he warmed up).
4.Memo is looking great! He has trimmed up, he is no longer squishy around the shoulders and waist, he looks at least 5 years younger-no kidding, and he was hitting the money shots.
3.Andrei Kirilenko has a new do-which may or may not have anything to do with his shot. It looked fantastic. Loose, relaxed, not-forced and fluid.
2.Ronnie Price!!!! This will be the year of RP. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. He was a high flying, dunking, stealing, garbage collecting fiend!
1.The alabaster calves of Assistant Coach, Scott Layden. This coach has obviously been in a gym all summer long. Not out on a beach perfecting a tan, but in the gym putting in the work. A person feels more confidant in a coaching staff that breeds the attitude encompassed by those pillars of white framed by poly-lycra and tube socks.
It also signifies all the pieces are in place for a year where incredible things happen for the Utah Jazz.

Annie,
I am right there with you about Memo and Ronnie Price, it even seemed to me that Memo was running faster than usual, but it was hard to tell because i was in the cheap seats. Can I look forward to seeing you in the commercial buying tickets from Andrei?
