A Community of Fans and Friends

When I was a kid being a Jazz fan meant watching the games, reading a recap in the Deseret News or the Salt Lake Tribune, watching highlights on the news and if you were a real Jazz nerd listening to the post game with Dave Blackwell on the radio.
Its hard to remember but there was a time when every game was not shown on TV. You had to follow your Jazz pocket schedule to see when the Jazz were playing. Just watching the limited games on TV was the best way you could feel part of the team.
Now is a better time than ever to be a Jazz fan. There has never been a time when you could feel more involved with the Jazz than right now.
Fans can literally spend hours a day following the Jazz online. Through social networks such as Twitter and Facebook fans get instant updates on what is happening with the team and its players. Fans can also unite with other fans through other social networks and forums.
Throughout the season contributing in the forums and other sites such as Jazzbots helps fans who have never met in person become friends.
Last season a group of us who regularly contribute at a Jazz forum met to watch a Jazz playoff game. None of us had ever met before but the instant we sat down at the Skybox we were so comfortable with each other it was like we had been friends for years. We have all continued to be friends outside of the forum that we originally met.
Wednesday night at the Jazzbots orientation meeting, I had a similar feeling. Most Jazzbots follow each other on Twitter and comment on each others posts, so although the orientation meeting was the first time many of us met in person, it felt like good friends being reunited.
Jazzbots, Twitter, Facebook and other sites can help unite Jazz fans. Become a part of the team, build friendships, and add your voice to the social networks of the Utah Jazz.

Diana- I love your post, and that you mentioned Dave Blackwell. I so enjoyed listening to him then later becoming friends. I miss his humor and style. My kids grew up watching or attending Jazz games with me. When I was asked to join the Jazzbots I jump on board without a thought, now retired I have an organization I love being a part of. Oh, thanks for using one of my photos!
Smile your on Jazzbots!

I think the reason it works out so well is that there is an instant ice-breaker. We all have a common topic that we like talking about so you can just jump right in to conversation.
