A Ray of Sunshine

It finally looks like November along the Wasatch front but to Jazz fans, today is a fine fine fine sun shiney day. 24 hours ago the fans in Jazzville were in utter despair. Hearing the news that their leader on and off the court was returning home to Salt Lake all but put the dagger in the hearts of Jazz fans in this young season.
Who would have thought that having only one true point guard and a rookie at that available for a road game would be just what the doctor ordered for a defunked Jazz team. Many fans thought that the game against the 76′ers would be a blow out , they were correct in that they were just wrong in which team dominated.
The Jazz started two rookies in the backcourt for the first time since 2004. The end results of that game were quite miserable. This game was quite different. The rookies (Maynor and Matthews) ran the offense. They did their best to get open shots for themselves or their teammates but all within Jerry Sloan’s offense. Maynor finished with a double double, 13 points and an astounding 11 assists. Matthews contiuned to impress Jazz fans, especially in the first half were he led the Jazz in their big run in the 2nd quarter. Matthews hit two three pointers in the half, scored 14 points and most importantly brought energy and confidence to the Jazz.
The Jazz didn’t couldn’t rely on Deorn Williams to set up the offense, to do everything for the team, to save the day, the Jazz had to figure out how to do it themselves. Every player had to do their best and help each other in order to win the ball game and thats what they did. Brewer and AK handled the point when Maynor was out of the game and did a fantastic job. Finishing with six and four assists respecively.
Boozer who dominated the paint finishing with 24 points and 12 rebounds summed it up best when he said “We knew we didn’t have the bodies here, but we had to play our game,” said Boozer. “That’s what I really like about this team. We don’t change no matter who’s in and who’s out. There’s consistency in how we prepare and how we play.”
Its not about who shines to the Jazz its about being happy, playing as a team and sharing the glory.
