Lottery or Championship?

Up and down. Good and bad. Where are the Jazz going?
Everyone, including the Jazz, are probably wondering the same thing.
They can certainly play well enough to win a championship, but they need health, motivation and a lot of luck.
They can, in the next breath, put out some horrible performances.
It’s too early in the season to [...]

A No Good, Rotten, Horrible Night!

To paraphrase the children’s book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, it was a no-good, rotten, horrible night.
MrsJazz says I shouldn’t write an article while I’m depressed over a loss. However, this is deeper than just one loss.
With $40m in salary sitting out for part or all of the year, the [...]

The Kids

I call them “The Kids”.  The 7’ 0” Kosta Koufos is just 20, and the 7’ 1” Kyroylo Fesenko is only 22. So, they’re just kids in terms of most NBA players. Also, Coach Sloan and his assistants tend to treat them as kids as well.
Fes is as goofy as Kosta is serious.
Both have had [...]

They’re BAAAAAACK!

Not to be confused with Poltergeist II, dare I say…
Apparently Joe Joe The Dog Faced Boy and Dickey The Stick are BAAAAAACK.
(Dickey The Stick, looks a little haggard in the video)
So, everyone got his or her wish. Right?
I only watched two games in person and three on TV, but I can’t say I had a [...]

The Curious Case of Matt Harpring

Matt should not be confused with Benjamin Button, who started old and grew young. Nor should he be confused with Brad Pitt.  Matt has aged before his years, well. . . anyway, his joints have prematurely aged.
Matty has probably played his last game. This presents the Jazz with several options.

The [...]

All decked out in our Jazz gear, we went to the game in Portland. We would have posted a picture of all of us, but we bought some cheap Dollar Store replacement batteries…BAD MOVE…we can’t even squeeze one photo out of these duds.
The Rose Garden is on the West side of I-5. Driving in and [...]

Jazz Review From Blazerland

We’re spending the next couple of weeks tending grand kids in the Portland area, while their parents are in Israel and Egypt.
We’re going to miss the Jazz/Blazers game in Salt Lake next week, and had to give away our tickets.:-( I guess we’ll be able to watch them on NBA-TV. The compensation is my daughter [...]

Make The Trade!

Before you propose a trade, do some basic research. Be familiar with the basic CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) concepts.
Check the salaries. There are rules to follow.
Run the proposed trade through a “trade checker”, like Real GM.
Value matters!!! You do not get quality for garbage, you just don’t… the best trades, the trades that get done, [...]

Preseason Opener: My Impressions

With just a few practices, this 1st preseason game looked pretty fluid for the returning players. They look ready for the season to start. However, the bench looked like the Summer League.
For all the preseason hype, Denver was not very impressive.
Both CJ and AK looked like they had gained some muscle. Think where AK would [...]

The Old Guard And The Future

I love Jarron Collins, but just not in a Jazz uniform. We need Kosta and Fes to get some real playing time. They really need to either develop into the players we hope they will be, or the Jazz to move on to another project. Jarron’s presence, and Jerry’s love for him, have, so far, [...]
